MINNEAPOLIS — More than 10,000 religious leaders from at least 185 countries and speaking in at least 25 official languages are expected to attend a conference for evangelists sponsored by the Rev. Billy Graham.
John Corts, president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Assn., will be general director of the conference, called Amsterdam 2000. The program to launch world evangelism into the 21st century and a new millennium is scheduled for July 29 to Aug. 6, 2000, in The Netherlands.
Theologians, strategists, church leaders and stewards are to join the preaching evangelists in a daily schedule of worship and prayer, plenary sessions, seminars and workshops.
“World evangelization is fresh in every generation,” Corts said. “Though the message of the Gospel and the need for that message will not change in the next century, the methods and delivery systems will be different.”
The association sponsored a major conference in Switzerland in 1974 to grapple with principles, concepts, methods, tools and strategies to reach the whole world in the modern generation.
