Vigil Held to Protest Removing Food Tube

The parents of a comatose man were among more than 100 people who held a vigil outside a Manassas, Va., nursing home to protest the removal of the man’s feeding tube. Thomas and Joan Finn said they don’t support the decision to remove the tube that has kept their son, Hugh, alive for 3 1/2 years. Finn’s feeding tube was removed Thursday; he is expected to die within a couple of weeks. Finn’s wife, Michele, informed his family in the summer that she planned to have the tube removed, saying Finn had told her he would never want to live in such a condition. Some relatives sued to stop her, but she won a court fight to remove the tube.
