Long Beach’s Latino Museum Shames L.A.

Thank you for the article by Michael Quintanilla about the newly inaugurated main gallery of the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach (Life & Style, Sept. 20).
I have two questions: How is it that Los Angeles, the No. 1 Latino-populated city in America, has no Latino museum worthy of the name?
Why is Long Beach, generally known as a conservative city with no great Latino population, now the pioneer in Southern California regarding Latino art and culture?
I am disappointed in my hometown.
