A weekly update on the progress of former Orange County prep athletes now in college.
BIOLA SOCCER
* County connections: Sally Moffett of Calvary Chapel and Mary Sunukjian of Brea
* Worth noting: Sunukjian, a junior midfielder, has four goals and Moffett, a sophomore forward, has two goals. Biola is off to its best start in school history with an 8-1-1 record.
BIOLA WOMEN’S
VOLLEYBALL
* County connections: Sara Roberts of Calvary Chapel
* Worth noting: Biola is 12-1 and ranked third in NAIA. Roberts, a junior outside hitter, had 22 kills in a recent victory over Westmont. She leads the team in digs with 152 and is second in kills with 149.
SAN JOSE
STATE VOLLEYBALL
* County connection: Michelle Sarkees of Santa Margarita
* Worth noting: Sarkees, a junior setter, broke the college’s career assists record Saturday in a victory over Fresno State. She had 43 assists to give her 3,299 for her career. Sarkees also leads the Western Athletic Conference in assists and is fifth in the country. San Jose State is 11-3 overall.
