The Value Line Investment Survey, a weekly publication that analyzes 1,700 major U.S. stocks, has upgraded four to its top ranking for timeliness--or predicted price gain in the year ahead.
Upgraded in the latest issue are drugstore chain CVS, telecom equipment provider Lucent Technologies, software developer Oracle and grocery seller Safeway.
Value Line’s top-rated stocks have a history of outperforming the broad market.
Downgraded were Fore Systems, Nautica Enterprises, Outback Steakhouse and Power Corp.
