NBC’s coverage of the New York-Cleveland series gained the highest TV ratings for any league championship series since before the 1994 baseball strike. NBC averaged a 9.4 rating for the six games, 6% higher than the network’s coverage of last year’s NL championship series in the same time slot. A ratings point represents 994,000 households.
CBS posted a 10.7 rating in 1993 for the Toronto-Chicago series, the last year before the strike.
