Contestants Sought for Scholarship Pageant

Officials of the Miss Placentia pageant are looking for young women interested in competing in the scholarship contest.
Applicants must live or work in Placentia or attend or have graduated from a high school within the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District.
Contestants also must be 17 to 24. To vie for the crown, they will participate in interview, talent, swimsuit and evening wear competitions.
The pageant, to be Jan. 30, is a local preliminary to the Miss California and Miss America competitions.
Last year, the Placentia pageant awarded nearly $5,000 in scholarships to contestants.
The deadline to apply is Oct. 13.
