PRISTINA, Yugoslavia — A U.S. soldier was electrocuted in southeast Kosovo when the radio antenna on his armored patrol vehicle touched an overhead power line, a spokesman for the NATO-led peace force said Monday.
He said the identity of the soldier, who died Sunday night, was being withheld pending notification of his family.
It was the third death of an American military peacekeeper in Kosovo, a province of Serbia, the main Yugoslav republic.
Last month, two American soldiers were killed and three injured when their armored personnel carrier overturned while on patrol about 10 miles northeast of Gnjilane, where U.S. forces have their headquarters.
Also in July, a U.S. soldier was killed in a traffic accident in neighboring Macedonia.
