Council Delays Action on Business District Creation
- Share via
The Los Angeles City Council postponed a vote Wednesday on creation of a Sherman Oaks Business Improvement District because five council members were absent.
Hal Bernson, Mike Hernandez, Mark Ridley-Thomas, Joel Wachs and Rita Walters did not attend Wednesday’s meeting, so the motion was rescheduled for the Aug. 11 agenda.
Two San Fernando Valley communities--Tarzana and Van Nuys--already have BIDs, geographically defined business districts where merchants or property owners agree to assess themselves to pay for area improvements.
The motion for a Sherman Oaks district is expected to pass, said Sharon Mayer, spokeswoman for Councilman Mike Feuer, who represents the area.
