A 19-year-old Santa Ana man was fatally injured Tuesday in an apparent gang-related shooting, police said.
Eli Castro was standing with a companion in front of a home in the 1000 block of South Corta Way about 1:40 p.m., investigators said, when two men with at least one gun approached them and started shooting.
Castro, shot in the upper torso, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died about 5 p.m., said Bruce Leamer, a spokesman for the Santa Ana Police Dept. The companion--Juan Ramon Castro, 26--was treated at Coastal Community Hospital for a wound in the arm.
Police said it was unclear whether the two victims are related.
Investigators have no suspects in the shooting, Leamer said.
