Holiday Closures

Friday is New Year’s Eve and Saturday is New Year’s Day. The following services will be affected:
* MAIL: On Friday, all post offices are open and mail will be delivered. On Saturday, all post offices are closed; no mail delivery.
* BANKS: On Friday, most banks and savings and loans are open; all will be closed Saturday.
* COURTS: On Friday and Saturday, all federal, state and county courts will be closed.
* SCHOOLS: Most public schools are closed until Monday.
* GOVERNMENT: On Friday, state offices are open; all federal, county and municipal offices, except those providing emergency services, are closed. On Saturday, all government offices, except those providing emergency services, will be closed.
* TRANSPORTATION: On Friday, MTA buses, subway and light-rail lines follow regular schedules; some will have extended hours. Rides are free from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday. On Saturday all lines are on the Sunday schedule. Metrolink will operate with limited service Friday and will be shut down Saturday and Sunday. Information: (800) COMMUTE.
* TRASH: Trash collection for Los Angeles will follow its regular schedule.
* LIBRARIES: County libraries are closed Friday through Sunday. Hours at individual cities’ libraries will vary.
