Lights, Cameras, Commissioners: Some 333 film commissioners from all 50 states as well as countries such as Canada, Australia and Mexico will gather today for the three-day Locations ’99 trade show at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The show is sponsored by the Assn. of Film Commissioners International.

Inflation Monitor: The Labor Department today issues the January consumer price index, a key gauge of inflation that calculates Americans’ buying habits. January’s CPI, which will incorporate a new price-gauging formula that will eventually knock a few tenths of a percentage point off the annual rate of inflation, is expected to rise 0.2% from December’s 0.1%.
