The City Council has approved a contract with the American Red Cross’ Orange County chapter that will make disaster preparations more convenient in the city, staff said. Under the contract, city staff and volunteers will be trained in Red Cross policies and procedures so they can respond in emergencies until the Red Cross staff arrives. The city also will provide additional support during the emergency response.
The Red Cross will have responsibility for food, equipment and liability costs, staff said.
