Stolen Gun Leads to Arrests in Robbery

A stainless-steel revolver used during a video store robbery led to the arrest of two men after Ventura County sheriff’s deputies recognized the gun as one stolen from a Camarillo home over the weekend.
Camarillo residents Alexander Olmedo and Alberto Bruno, both 18 and both on probation for previous convictions, were arrested in connection with the Monday night robbery at Zavalas Video on Glenn Drive, authorities said. They are being held in Ventura County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Olmedo also faces drug charges for allegedly being under the influence during his arrest.
Deputies said they recognized from witness statements that the revolver used in the robbery was similar to one stolen from a Camarillo residence on Sunday. Olmedo had been identified as a suspect in that case, authorities said.
Olmedo and Bruno were arrested at their homes.
