Larger Terminal at Burbank

* In March of 1993, the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority voted to build a larger and safer terminal. It’s 1999 and we still desperately need a new terminal at the airport.
Prior to February 1995, things were moving along just fine. In fact, Burbank City Manager Robert Ovrom and city staff supported the Airport Authority’s acquisition of the land needed for a new terminal. What changed? The Burbank City Council. As new members were elected, what was once a businesslike council became a collection of gadflies. Since Ovrom needs three votes to retain his job, he too had to jump on the anti-airport bandwagon.
Fortunately, there is a chance to once again move forward on the construction of a new airport terminal, if and only if, two new council members are elected during Burbank’s Feb. 23 election.
If the incumbents win, then it’s four more years of zero progress.
