During his State of the City address Wednesday, Mayor Tom Daly called 1998 a good year for the city: Crime dropped 17%; major projects, including the convention center expansion, resort upgrades and freeway improvements, are on schedule; and the business sector is prospering.

Daly also lauded the Police Department for its work, and noted that the renovation of the baseball stadium was a “big achievement” for Anaheim.

This year, Daly said the city will be aggressive in cleaning up blighted properties, improve deteriorated commercial areas in west Anaheim and either build or plan four new parks.
