2 Siblings Jailed; 1 Tricks His Brother’s Keepers in Escape
- Share via
LAS VEGAS — Troy and Jerry Barnes bring a whole new meaning to the words “brotherly love.”
The brothers were both jailed at the Clark County Detention Center on drug-related charges. Troy Barnes was scheduled for release on his own recognizance, but Jerry Barnes was to remain in custody on a bench warrant.
But when jailers came to release Troy Barnes on Wednesday, Jerry Barnes took his brother’s place and walked out a free man.
“We ask the individuals being released certain questions to minimize those kinds of mix-ups,” said Metro Police Capt. Henry Hoogland. “However, if people conspire to share that information . . they would have a chance of beating us on that.”
Troy Barnes is still awaiting his release. Jail officials won’t let him go until they determine whether he played a role in the deception.
Jerry Barnes remains at large.
