John Boyd may not be a household name in Brea, but in Lagos de Moreno, Mexico, he soon will be. Lagos De Moreno, Brea’s sister city, will name a street in honor of Boyd, who has been instrumental in forging a relationship between the two cities. A member of Brea’s International Rotary Club, Boyd first visited the impoverished Mexican city in 1981 and helped the town get on its feet. Since then, the Brea Rotary Club has sent about $900,000 in police and fire equipment and medical and school supplies to Lagos De Moreno.
