Titans Finish Fourth in Softball Tournament

Cal State Fullerton split two games Sunday, ending with a fourth-place finish in the CSF Easton Showcase Softball Tournament.
The Titans were 4-2 in the three-day tournament. Stanford, undefeated at 6-0, won the tournament. Oregon (5-1) was second and Washington (5-1) third.
In Sunday’s games, the Titans (11-7) beat Santa Clara, 6-0, in the second game. Jana Oetgen (6-3) got the victory, giving up six hits in seven innings. She also had a double. Monica Lucatero had two hits and an RBI for Fullerton.
The Titans were shut out by Stanford in the first game, 8-0. Marcy Crouch (Marina High) pitched a five-hitter with four strikeouts for Stanford (18-4).
In Big West Conference women’s tennis:
Cal State Fullerton 6, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 3--Strong performances from the No. 6 singles and the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles teams were key for the Titans.
Laurel McLatcher defeated Jennifer Azevedo, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 6 singles, giving Fullerton a 4-2 lead. Titans Amy Medlin and Brooke Lacey opened doubles play with an 8-6 victory, followed by an 8-4 victory by teammates Eleanor Luzano and Summer Tantee at No. 2 doubles.
