Cub Scouts to Host Simi Valley Car Show

* Simi Valley Cub Scout Pack No. 3663 will host the Cubs & Cars ’99 car show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Metrolink station, 5050 Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley. The program will include children’s activities and food. $20 to register a car; no charge to view the cars. Information: 527-0375.
Temple to Present Music, Comedy Program * The Cultural Affairs Committee of Temple Beth Haverim in Agoura Hills will present a “Celebration of Music and Comedy” at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. Cantor and comedian Kenny Ellis will perform, along with soprano Rebecca Somberg and the Temple Beth Haverim Children’s Choir. Open House for Surfrider Foundation * Ventura-based Point Blanks surfboards and Water Girl women’s surf wear will hold an open house to benefit the Ventura County chapter of the Surfrider Foundation from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at 105 S. Olive St., Ventura. Guests are invited to bring used surfboards to sell at 2 p.m. There will be a fashion show at 4 p.m. and a prize drawing at 5 p.m. The program also will include surfboard shaping and machining demonstrations. Conejo Hospice to Hold Golf Tournament * Hospice of the Conejo will hold its 13th annual benefit golf tournament beginning at 11 a.m. Friday at the Sunset Hills Country Club, 4155 Erbes Road, Thousand Oaks. The program will include lunch, dinner and an auction. $125. Registration: 495-2146.
Home for Disabled Plans Fashion Show * Villa Esperanza, an Agoura home for developmentally disabled adults, will hold a benefit luncheon, fashion show and silent auction from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Sherwood Country Club, 320 W. Art Organization to Present Auction * Focus on the Masters, a sponsor of art lectures and other art-related events, will hold its third annual auction from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Laurel Theatre, 1006 E. Cancer Society Plans 24-Hour Relay * The Greater Ventura Unit of the American Cancer Society will hold its second annual 24-hour Relay for Life on Saturday and May 23 at Ventura High School’s Larrabee Stadium, 2155 E. Main St. Teams of 10 to 18 people will raise funds for the walk-run relay, with proceeds going toward cancer research, education and patient services. Oxnard Library Hosts a Murder Mystery * The Oxnard Public Library will host “Murder on the Marquee,” an interactive murder mystery fund-raiser set at a 1935 movie premiere, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 p.m. May 23 at 251 South A St., Oxnard. Audience members, who will help solve the crime, are invited to dress in 1930s attire. The evening will include hors d’oeuvres, desserts and a no-host wine bar. League Sponsors Benefit Theater Party * The League of Women Voters will sponsor a benefit theater party at a production of Ronald Harwood’s “Taking Sides” at 2 p.m. May 23 at the Santa Paula Theater Center, 125 South 7th St. Wine, cheese and hors d’oeuvres will be served at intermission.
