Islands of Adventure, Disney World Hike Fee

This may be a first: Universal Studios’ new Islands of Adventure theme park in Orlando, Fla., upped its admission fee before it opened this weekend.
Earlier this month, the park had announced it would charge $42 adults ($44.52 with tax) and $34 children 3 to 9 ($36.04 with tax), matching rival Walt Disney World. Then last Sunday, Disney quietly raised admission by $2 for adults and $1 for children. When contacted two days later, Universal spokesman Jim Yeager said Islands would also raise prices. So each park now charges $44 adults ($46.64 with tax) and $35 for kids ($37.10 with tax).
New for Disney: Buyers of one-day passes can get $5 off on a second day’s admission if they pre-purchase it on the spot.
