NORTH HILLS — Police have identified the man shot to death Saturday evening in an apparent gang attack as a 20-year-old San Fernando resident.
“The attack appears to be gang-related,” said Officer Isaac Galvan of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Division.
Daniel Candelaria was walking near the intersection of Parthenia Street and Columbus Avenue about 6:15 p.m. when a tan, compact car containing several men cruised toward him and stopped, Galvan said.
The men asked Candelaria whether he belonged to a gang, and he said no, police said. A passenger pulled out a gun and shot at Candelaria several times.
An ambulance took Candelaria to an area hospital, where he died, Galvan said.
Police are asking anyone with information about the crime to call (818) 756-8291 during business hours or (818) 756-8283 after hours.
