Fullerton Defeats Air Force, 3-1

Ricky Melendez had a goal and an assist Sunday to help Cal State Fullerton defeat Air Force, 3-1, in the Pacific Soccer Classic at UCLA. Melendez and teammate Antonio Martinez earned all-tournament honors.

Shaun Higgins and Art Ramirez also scored goals for the Titans (14-4).

Air Force is 8-8-2.

In a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game:

New Mexico 3, UC Irvine 1--Jon Spencer scored for visiting Irvine (7-11-1, 2-4 in conference). Jeff Whiting had a goal and an assist for New Mexico (8-8-1, 3-2-1).

At the Cal State Fullerton women’s tennis tournament:

Northridge team wins--Katie Fitzgerald and Isabella Peintner of Cal State Northridge defeated Cal State Fullerton’s Amy Medlin and Eleanor Luzano, 8-5, in the doubles final. The singles final between Peintner and teammate Shaheen Bhanji will be played next week at Northridge.
