Soward Aching, Hurting

USC receiver R. Jay Soward’s hamstring remains tight--a little like the Trojans’ mood.
“Everybody’s uptight,” Soward said. “Four straight losses--that isn’t typical for USC.”
Soward, unable to play Saturday because he couldn’t run in pregame warmups, is eager to return but remains day-to-day.

Quarterback Mike Van Raaphorst said he has been playing with a sore left--non-throwing-- hand and was to have X-rays to check for broken bones. . . . Injury report on what Coach Paul Hackett called a “musical chairs” offensive line: Trevor Roberts is expected to be able to play, despite having a cast on his wrist, and Faaesea Mailo (bruised leg) and Brent McCaffrey (sprained ankle) are questionable. Jason Grain remains out after arthroscopic knee surgery. . . . Arizona State running back J.R. Redmond will return this week after a one-game suspension over an NCAA rules violation case.
