Venture Forum Seeks 20 Entrepreneurs

The transportation gurus at WestStart/CALSTART are looking for 20 entrepreneurs to strut their stuff at the group’s first-ever venture forum Feb. 1. While the Pasadena-based nonprofit specializes in helping high-tech companies develop products for the advanced transportation industry, the forum is open to entrepreneurs seeking funding for any kind of start-up. More than 350 business owners and investors are expected to attend, according to WestStart/CALSTART spokesman Bob Velker.
“I like to call it a ‘buffet-style’ venture forum,” said Velker, executive director of the nonprofit’s high-tech incubators, which are located in Pasadena, Alameda and Camarillo. “The wider the variety, the better the chances of having something that will appeal to anyone.”
Entrepreneurs interested in presenting at the forum must submit three copies of their business plan to WestStart/CALSTART by Dec. 3. Those who are selected will be coached and mentored in preparation for the event. For more information, check out the WestStart/CALSTART Web site at https://www.calstart.org and click on the “Invitation to Entrepreneurs” link.
