A small airplane with a collapsed landing gear skidded off the runway while landing at John Wayne Airport on Tuesday, sustaining minor damage but causing no injuries.
The Cessna 310 with two people aboard slid onto a taxiway off runway 19 before coming to a stop, said Nghia Nguyen, an airport spokeswoman.
“For precautionary purposes we closed our commercial runway for five minutes,” Nguyen said.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the mishap, which occurred at 5:25 p.m. Nguyen said she could not identify the pilot or passenger on board, but both were from Orange County.
