The Chamber of Commerce is asking residents and participants in Thursday’s Dana Point Turkey Trot 10K and 5K runs to donate old shoes as part of a drive to help needy families throughout Orange County.
Specially marked bins for the “Shoe Drop” will be set up near the race course at Dana Point Harbor, Turkey Trot Chairman Daniel Batty said.
Additional bins will be located at the chamber office at 24681 La Plaza; and Dana Wharf Sportfishing, 34675 Golden Lantern. The bins will be out until the beginning of December.
All shoes collected will be donated to the needy through various service agencies, Batty said.
