The Planning Commission on Monday postponed voting on a housing project for women recovering from alcohol or drugs until Dec. 6.
Southern California Alcohol and Drug Programs Inc. requested a permit to run a substance abuse recovery program for a total of 54 people, including 18 women and their children. A staff report suggested that a 54-person occupancy of the proposed center, consisting of two apartment buildings and one single-family residence on State College Boulevard, posed an overcrowding issue. Allen Golden, a consultant for the project, said that project leaders have since agreed to limit occupancy to 48 and expects the commission to give its approval Dec. 6.
