* Congregation Am HaYam of Oxnard, which serves the Conservative Jewish community, will host a Hanukkah party from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. Friday for children ages 5 to 13.
This will be a kickoff event for the congregation’s new youth group. It is free and open to all Jewish families.
Rabbi Gerald Hanig will conduct Hanukkah Shabbat family services at 7 p.m., followed by a latke party.
On Dec. 4, Hanig will hold services for families with small children at 9:30 a.m. Traditional services will follow at 10 a.m.

* Congregation B’nai Emet of Simi Valley will host a community Hanukkah party from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 5. Participants can light the menorah, sing songs, eat and schmooze.
Desserts, a coffee bar, crafts for the kids and entertainment will be provided for a fee.

* Temple Beth Torah of Ventura will celebrate Hanukkah at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 10 with a bring-your-own-dinner gathering in the social hall. At 7:30 p.m., Rabbi Lisa Hechberg-Miller will lead a Hanukkah-themed family service, which will be followed by a community lighting of a nine-branch candle.
All events are free and open to the public. The temple is at 7620 Foothill Road.
