SOUTH PASADENA — The new transportation agency responsible for completing a light rail line from downtown Los Angeles to Pasadena will be headquartered in South Pasadena.
Officials of the Pasadena Metro Blue Line Construction Authority signed a lease Tuesday for office space at 625 Fair Oaks Blvd.
“It’s just one more step in the many that we’ve got to go through,” said Rick Thorpe, the authority’s new chief executive officer.
Directors of the authority chose South Pasadena because it is centrally located along the future rail line.
The authority was established in January after state lawmakers stripped the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of responsibility for the 13.7-mile rail line from Union Station through Chinatown, Lincoln Heights, Highland Park, South Pasadena and Pasadena.
