New Friends Put Santana on Top
Carlos Santana’s reunion with executive Clive Davis is proving to have more than sentimental value. The Arista Records chief helped gather such guests as Lauryn Hill, Eric Clapton and Matchbox 20’s Rob Thomas for “Supernatural,” and the roster’s diversity has helped the album become the legendary guitarist’s biggest hit since the early ‘70s. The album has hit No. 1 on the Southern California chart and has passed the 1 million sales figure. RICHARD CROMELIN
