Ratings for the NCAA men’s tournament semifinals are down from last year. The Wisconsin-Michigan State opener Saturday had an 8.8 national rating, a drop of 4% from 1999, while Florida-North Carolina drew a 10.2, a decrease of 6%. The shares recorded for Saturday’s Final Four games--the percentage of the nation’s televisions tuned to a telecast among those on at the time--were a 21 for the first game and a 19 for the second. Last year’s shares were 21 and 20, respectively. . . . A poll of Indiana residents showed 55.5% think Bob Knight should continue as Indiana University coach, and 38.9% said he should not. It also showed 27% favored discipline for Knight’s conduct in recent years and 44.5% feel the school should continue its current investigation.
