The City Council today will consider doubling the rate charged for metered parking on Main Street to $2 an hour. Other seaside communities such as Newport Beach and Laguna Beach charge no more than $1 an hour.
The officials said the change has been proposed to make the city’s parking program more profitable.
The council meets at 7 p.m. today in chambers, 2000 Main St.
