PASADENA — Philanthropists Adelaide and Alexander Hixon have given Pacific Oaks College a $1-million endowment to support an early childhood education institute.
The Hixons, members of one of the wealthiest families in the country, share the school’s beliefs in early childhood education, said college President Carolyn Denham.
Their own children attended Pacific Oaks Children’s School in the 1950s, and Adelaide Hixon was a member of the Pacific Oaks Board of Trustees from 1993 to 1999.
“The Hixons’ gift brings life to their belief in the importance of early childhood education as a building block for a child’s future,” Denham said in a press release.
