Honoring Elders
People in Japan observe Sept. 15 as Respect for the Aged Day. Even without such an official holiday in the United States, we should honor our elders.
Although I have been blessed with a very caring family, as a resident of a senior complex for some time I have seen the majority of people here left to fend for themselves.
Has it come to the point where elders are mostly forgotten? Some of them may not be as “sharp” as they once were, but each has wisdom to offer for making the most of the precious gift of life.
Respect for the Aged Day should be a major part of our lives. We should all realize how rapidly our precious years go by.
