A man who was struck and killed as he tried to cross California 126 on Sunday night was identified as Artenio Rafael, 57, of Santa Paula, coroner’s officials said.
Rafael was dragged 60 feet by a car as he attempted to cross the highway near Santa Paula. When the vehicle’s driver slammed on the brakes, a second car rear-ended it and forced it into a ditch, officials said.
The drivers of both cars were treated and released from a local hospital, officials said.
