Loyola Marymount 78, Sacramento State 59--Reserve forward Greg Lakey scored a career-high 29 points at Sacramento as the Lions (3-4) shot 51.8% and ended a road losing streak at 23 games.
The 6-foot-10 Lakey made 10 of 12 shots and center Pablo Machado had 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Loyola Marymount last won on the road on Jan. 21, 1999--89-73 at San Diego.
Loyola Marymount also exceeded its win total of last season, when it went 2-26 and was winless in 14 road games. The Hornets (2-4) dropped their fourth in a row after a 2-0 start.
Lakey, a transfer from USC, came off the bench to pace the Lions’ 58.1% shooting in the first half. He made five of six shots for 12 points. The Lions lead, 45-33, at halftime.
Anoruo Arinze paced four Hornets in double figures with 13 points and Rickie Glenn added 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Hornets were one of from three-point range and shot 38.7%.
