Pacific Sunwear Plans Openings, Expansions

Anaheim apparel retailer Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. expects to open about 125 new stores and relocate or expand about 40 stores in its next fiscal year, ending January 2002, according to the company’s quarterly report recently filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company, which has about 587 locations, also said it foresees $85 million to $90 million in capital expenditures next year. About $49 million to $54 million will be spent on new stores and relocations, and $36 million will be spent on a new corporate office and distribution center. Through the end of next month, Pacific Sunwear said it plans to open about 22 new stores and expand or relocate six stores.
