Don’t feel sorry for Burroughs’ girls, who lost one of the region’s best sophomore guards when Shaina Zaidi transferred to Marlborough.
The Indians have restocked with Tulyah Gaines, a flashy freshman who led her club team to a national title last summer and finished second in her age group in the long jump.
She scored 17 points on Saturday in a 64-59 victory over North Hollywood and had 22 on Monday in a 63-42 victory over Moorpark.
“She’s the best guard I’ve seen so far,” said Coach Jerry Mike of Foothill League rival Valencia. “She’s going to be really, really good.”
