In the statewide contest, to be held March 17-19 in Los Angeles, Burbank High will compete against other county and Los Angeles Unified schools, as well as public and private schools from all over California.
Two Burbank High students, Azam Mehdi and Fabian Primera, were among the overall winners--finishing with gold and bronze medals, respectively, in the varsity division of the competition.
Palos Verdes Peninsula High School came first overall in the county competition, with Rowland High School in Rowland Heights finishing second and Beverly Hills High School fourth, Los Angeles County schools spokesman Steve Horowitz said.
