MD-82 Jet Makes Emergency Landing

An MD-82 passenger jet headed from Las Vegas to Cleveland made an emergency landing Monday at the South Bend, Ind., Regional Airport after its crew reported problems maintaining level flight. Continental Flight 1416, carrying 146 people, landed safely; no one was injured. The plane is similar to the one that crashed Jan. 31 off Southern California, killing 88 people on Alaska Airlines Flight 261.
