Gas Prices

* I wish I didn’t understand why gasoline prices are up and headed for the stratosphere. Why is it that the government goes ballistic over its perception that Microsoft is guilty of restraint of trade, when it is strangely silent about mergers of oil companies such as Arco and British Petroleum?

The same is now happening in the grocery store chains, with company after company merging. Goodbye, Lucky! Grocery prices are rising like a rocket. Apparently the U.S. government has never heard of monopolies and inelastic demand. How much would you pay for air if a monopoly owned the air, and you had to pay for it? How much would you pay for a gallon of gasoline if your only other option was to walk to work?
