Piles of Garbage May Greet Republicans

PHILADELPHIA — Thousands of city workers are threatening to go on strike July 25--a week before the Republican National Convention--if their union and the city do not agree on a contract by then.
If a strike happens and it continues beyond the start of the GOP gathering, that could mean piles of uncollected garbage all over the city just as thousands of people come to town.
About 14,000 members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees are eligible to strike.
