The popularity of the city’s annual sandcastle contest, which takes place in September this year, has prompted the Chamber of Commerce and Business Assn. to add a free, noncompetitive event May 20. The Kids, Kites and Kastles Day will take place at the beach near 8th Street starting at 10 a.m. and will feature a special section for children under 6 and kite-flying demonstrations.
