A Canoga Park woman was killed and her daughter injured Sunday afternoon in a head-on collision in Woodland Hills, police said.
Anidita Datta, 49, was driving southbound in the 5500 block of Valley Circle Boulevard about 4:15 p.m. when a northbound car, driven by Jake Tarica, 61, of Woodland Hills veered across the double yellow lines and crashed into her, said Lt. Ron Tingle of LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division.
Datta was pronounced dead at the scene, Tingle said. Her daughter, Esha, 17, suffered moderate injuries and is in stable condition at Northridge Hospital Medical Center in Northridge.
Tarica was in serious but stable condition, also at the Northridge hospital, Tingle said.
Los Angeles Police Department investigators are looking into the cause of the accident.
“There was no evidence of alcohol,” Tingle said. “There’s no evidence at this time of any criminal behavior whatsoever.”
