The Women’s Enterprise Development Corp. has received a $100,000 grant to provide business training to retailers in the greater San Pedro/Wilmington/Harbor area.
The grant, from the Los Angeles Community Development Department, will allow the Long Beach-based nonprofit organization to serve businesses that have been operating for at least a year and are grossing over $500,000 annually. Workshops will focus on business planning, Internet retailing, merchandising and marketing strategies, human resource management and other industry-specific topics.
One-on-one business counseling and assistance and help with access to capital also will be available. Services will be available in Spanish and English and will focus on businesses in low- to moderate-income areas.
Services will be offered through the organization’s San Pedro Business Assistance Center at 461 West 6th St. Interested retailers should call (310) 832-4222. For information regarding other WEDC programs and courses, call (562) 983-3747.
