County Mailing Out Property Tax Bills
The county will begin sending out 225,390 property tax bills this week, with a Dec. 11 payment deadline approaching and a total of nearly $572 million expected to tumble into county coffers.
Residents’ first installments are due Nov. 1 but are not considered late until after Dec. 11, after which there will be a 10% penalty.
The second installment is due Feb. 1 and will be considered late after April 10.
On Dec. 11, there will be a drop box set up at the Hall of Administration at the County Government Center, 800 S. Victoria Ave. in Ventura.
Until then, mailing is the easiest way to handle payment.
Total assessments are down this year from $626.6 million last year, because of appeals by Amgen Inc. and Procter & Gamble, officials said.
Amgen in Newbury Park is the top taxpayer for the year 2000-01, paying about $6.25 million.
