Greenville Fundamental School nurse Bonnie Pate this week received the Santa Ana Unified School District’s Bravo! award for saving a baby from choking on a nickel.

“A mom from across the street came running over to the school because her baby had swallowed something, and she was looking for a nurse,” said Pate, who used the Heimlich maneuver on the child to dislodge the item. “I’m just happy I was able to do something to help this child.”
