Ventura 6, Dos Pueblos 5--David Miller had 11 saves and the Cougars (16-3, 6-1) avenged an earlier Channel League loss to the Chargers at Dos Pueblos.
Ventura, ranked No. 2 in Division IV, trailed, 4-3, after three quarters but got goals from Paul Carter, Nick Wagner and Derek Doler in the final seven minutes.
Wagner and Adam Payan each finished with two goals.
Paul Kuga had three goals for Dos Pueblos, ranked No. 3 in Division IV.
BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY
Monroe 24, Sylmar 31--Germain Ortiz clocked a season best of 15:44 over the three-mile course at Pierce College to help the Vikings (6-0, 6-0) clinch the Valley Mission League title.
Ortiz, a senior, ran a career best of 15:29 at Pierce to finish sixth in the City Section final last year.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Burbank 10, Canyon 8--No. 3 singles player Janet Hong beat No. 1 Missy Suarez, 7-6 (11-9), and the Bulldogs clinched the Foothill League title at Canyon.
Hong survived three service points in a set with Suarez that lasted an hour. She avenged an earlier loss to Suarez, forcing consecutive errors for the final two points in the tiebreaker.
Olga Yepremian and Veronica Irinco of Burbank (14-2, 10-0) swept their sets.
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Poly def. Verdugo Hills, 15-12, 15-10, 15-10--Jennifer Alfaro had 10 kills and eight digs, and Gaby Arvizu had 14 digs and three aces to help the Parrots (11-1, 9-0) clinch its second consecutive Sunset Six League title at Verdugo Hills.
Poly is 19-0 in the league’s two-year existence.
