Grant 26, Lincoln 7--Perry Clayton ran for 179 yards in 19 carries and scored two touchdowns, and Carlos Mendez kicked field goals of 48 and 53 yards for the Lancers at Lincoln.
Clayton’s three-yard touchdown run on the first play of the second quarter was set up by Alfonso Estrada’s 33-yard pass to Nick Isaak on fourth and four from the Tiger 36.
Clayton’s 45-yard touchdown run gave Grant (1-1) a 14-0 lead.
Julius Roberts recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff, setting up Mendez’s 48-yard field goal, which hit the crossbar. Grant’s defense recovered two fumbles and made an interception, but lost its shutout bid when Jaime Conteras of Lincoln (0-1-1) ran 51 yards for a touchdown with 9:22 left.
